A taste of Skioni

Nea Skioni  is a little village located in the peninsula of Kassandra, Halkidiki, Greece.  Nea Skioni was established in 1918 and used to be a fisherman village. It is named after the ancient city of Skioni, whose site was nearby to the east. According to Thucydides, Skioni was built by the Pelleneans from Peloponnese on their way back from the war of Troy. The village is now a popular tourist destination and has one of the prettiest ports in the area.

    1. Hehe, i didn’t find one, it was a bad time for photos in general, too much sun but i can’t be that picky 🙂 We did a little tour around the villages with a friend, so i couldn’t choose the time or weather conditions…

    1. That’s a great compliment Diana 🙂 Thank you! Wait until you see the next places i’m going to post…I think you’re gonna love them 😀

  1. Fab images Alex….
The light is absolutely beautiful, you picked your moments well…too much sun can flatten everything out, but with just a little cloud like this the light is gorgeous.
    θεαματικός.

    1. Thank you Stuart 😀 I was grateful for the little clouds, if the sky was totally clear i would not have posted any of these photos…I cannot stand perfectly clear blue skies 😛

  2. Nea Skioni is a beautiful village in Kassandra, that still remains intact of crowding and tourists. There are only a few tourists that visit Skioni, since it is at the far end of Kassandra and doesn’t have all the night live that other villages offer, but these tourists adopt the local style and live amonst the locals, their way. Very quiet fishermen village, tranquil and, just lovely!
