The beautiful Hundertwasser Haus surrounded by snow! 😀 I finally had the rare opportunity to take a photo of it without people walking all around but unfortunately the cars parked next to it, seem to always be there! It has become one of my goals to take a photo of this building without any cars and people around! One day…
Nope, it’s not snowing again. After the “snowstorm”, we had so many amazing and sunny days, with clear blue skies and i must admit i spent most of my time taking really long walks, 15km every day at least and kinda lacked any motivation to sit down and edit grey and snowy photos. Today it’s been raining so i thought it was about time, old snowy photos are coming up!!! ❄❄❄
Yesterday we had a little snowstorm in Vienna! 😀 I might have been the only person who was really excited and was running outside with a huge smile, ignoring the strong wind and the dense snowfall! What a day it was! 😀 Today it is all gone but since yours truly spend more than 3 hours taking photos yesterday, there are many shots to be posted in the following days! 😉
P.s. The Rainsleeve thingy i bought from eBay to protect my camera from rain/snow, worked quite well. I had to tape the lens opening side on the lens hood itself cause the drawstring didn’t secure tightly enough and would move exposing the lens when i focused…but for 7$ / 2 pieces, you can’t complain 🙂
Don’t you love the feeling of being new to a city? All the beauty that awaits to be discovered can exhilarate the senses. It’s been more than 4 months since i moved to Vienna and that feeling hasn’t faded, on the contrary, it’s getting stronger. The whole city is my wonderland and i love getting lost in the streets wondering what awaits at the next corner…
Sometimes it can happen that you are on your way to do some groceries shopping, the sky is pretty plain but cloudy, you step in the super market, you take your time buying stuff, step out of the super market and suddenly you see this insane sky, with colors and shapes you never experienced before…
What you do?
Option 1: Enjoy the sky as you carelessly get back home
Option 2: Take out your smartphone and get a lousy snapshot and tell all your friends on Instagram that it was really a lot better than the photo
Option 3: Just ignore it and make fun of all the other people who stare at the sky like they are on drugs
Option 4: Run like hell, i mean like your butt is on fire, get home, throw all your groceries on the floor (that gouda can wait), grab your camera, fly down the stairs and run like hell again so you can find some decent spots to take some shots before this insane sky disappears.
Obviously i took option 4 (although i’m guilty of option 2 as well) and therefore i present to you a slideshow of some quick shots i took while trying to catch my breath! Enjoy 😀
P.S. All photos were taken handheld and post-processed in Lightroom from a single RAW file, no HDR. What do you think?
With this photo we close the posts from Thessaloniki. Here we have another interesting meet of different styles of architecture, right in the heart of the city. Maybe the two lovebirds sitting at the bus stop had an interesting meeting as well 😛
Day 12 of the V-Light Art Sale and we have reached the amazing 57% 😯 I had a little break these last 3 days, relaxing at the sea (photos will be coming up next 😉 ) cause running an Indiegogo campaign requires more work than a full time job…There are still 20 days to go, it’s a lot of time but we cannot rest. I’m working on a new video and maybe i’ll also add a new perk…Any shares are always welcome and they do help the campaign to stay higher on the trending list.
How is your summer going? I don’t know if you noticed a different look in my latest posts from Thessaloniki but i have been experimenting with a new workflow. I usually shoot with cloudy and dark skies but in my last visit i had to do my best with what i had and that was a crazy sunny day with only a few scattered clouds. When i got back to my village and tried to edit these photos, my usual workflow didn’t do them any justice, so i tried something different. Although i always do 3 bracketed shots so i can make an HDR file if needed, these last photos were all made using a single raw file. The newest camera raw in Photoshop is amazing in recovering shadows, i can tell you that 🙂
This was the darkest exposure of the 3, at -2 stops and i still got great detail in the shadows without getting too much noise. Next i’m using Color Efex Pro adding the amazing detail extractor, pro contrast, skylight filter, darken/lighten center and sunlight for that extra shine. What do you think? Are you liking my last photos? I’m not used into creating such vibrant and colorful images in city landscapes, maybe my mood is reflected in my post-processing cause i am feeling extra bright lately 😀
Day 7 of the V-Light Art Sale and it’s one of the reasons why i feel so bright 😀 Your support has been amazing and i truly thank you for that! If you ever wanted a print of my photos now is the perfect time and you’ll get an e-book version of my book Visions as well! 😉 Even if you cannot afford a print, consider contributing even 1$ and you will still gain the Artist Supporter perk. Your name along with all the other contributors will be featured into a unique artwork i’ll specifically create for this campaign. It will be displayed on my blog and you’ll be able to download it! I think it’s a nice way for me to say thank you and always remember your support 🙂 Contributions over 1$ automatically gain this perk 😉 Just visit the link bellow and show some love ♥
Continuing my street art posts with another beautiful wall mural in Thessaloniki. This is one of my favorites! I absolutely love the colors and it’s quite impressive in size 🙂 I think i do have some older photos of the whole mural but i cannot find them at the moment, will keep looking for them though 🙂
Yesterday i started my Art-Sale, to fund part of my moving expenses to Austria. It’s already going overwhelmingly well, i couldn’t even sleep from all the excitement 😀 It’s been only 24 hours and i already reached 22% of my funding goal. But we cannot rest, it’s important to gain some momentum in the first days so i can have a better chance of reaching my goal 😀 To do that i’m gonna need all the help i can get, so please keep sharing! 😀 If you haven’t seen my campaign yet, please visit the link bellow to read all the details and check out the sweet perks 😉
Continuing my posts with the latest photos i took in Thessaloniki, today we have the famous Arch of Galerius. Build in 298 to 299 AD, it’s probably one of the most prominent monuments in the city. It also serves as a famous meeting point, maybe even more than the Aristotelous clock i posted yesterday, it really depends on who you ask.
Located just next to the very busy road of Egnatia, the arch breaths and exists in the heart of the city’s center. People like to have their photos taken right under it and in this case you don’t wonder why. It might not be in the best condition but the arch is a tangible example of how the city used to be. You can make the imaginary line of where the city walls used to stand and how they ran down from the Eptapyrgio fortress up in the hills, to the Arch, to end at the White Tower right next to the sea.
