Exploring Donauinsel III

13.04.2015 | Donauturm and DC Tower 1, the two tallest buildings in Vienna, Austria

Here they are, the two tallest buildings of Vienna in one photo! 🙂 Donauturm (252meters) on the center of the photo and the DC Tower 1 (250meters with the antenna included) on the right. The Danube island offers a great panoramic view to some great architectural marvels but it’s also a unique place for nature lovers as you will discover on my next posts 😉

Have a great week my friends and don’t forget your comments are always welcome! Cheers!

13.04.2015 | View of DC Tower 1, Vienna, Austria

Continuing our walk on the Danube Island, we get to have a nice view of the second tallest building in Vienna. The DC Tower 1, is quite a fresh addition to the city’s skyline, having been completed in the summer of 2013. The DC Tower is 220 meters high, 250 meters if you include the antenna on top of it and thus almost touching the first place of the tallest buildings list. However, Donauturm at 252 meters height, refuses to come second to a cheating building and comfortably enjoys its first place! 😛

Exploring Donauinsel I

Hello my friends,

V-Light is back! I hope you missed me cause you are gonna be served many new photos in the next days 😀 Why the long absence you may ask?…Well, i needed some time in my cocoon to be nurtured and grow into the artistic butterfly you all know me to be! Haha 😛 While in my cocoon, i still walked around every day (wait cocoons can walk? o_O ), many times for more than 3-4 hours, i covered many kilometers, absorbed so much beauty in vision and in sound. But hey, spring is here, so the smell ain’t so bad either! Everything is in bloom, vibrant colors, crazy people, wicked smiles…and the mood to kick ass is back again!

This might not be a very “springy” photo but that’s what i love about this season, the contrast! So i’ve been visiting the island in the middle of the Danube river, almost every day! It’s really a great place, so much nature, so much green and water all around! As an Aquarius myself, i love water, i crave to be near water, so it’s been a very healing experience as well. Batteries are fully charged and i’m ready to make my comeback to the oh so demanding online world! Hope you all have been doing great and enjoying spring wherever you are 😀 V-Light out! ♥

The towers of nature

The Towers of Nature by V-Light
08.01.2015 | Donaupark, Vienna, Austria

Hello my lovely people,

So i listened to many of your recent comments suggesting that black and white would be a good way to go for snowy landscapes with an empty and mundane sky and even though i’m not a big fan of B&W, (i love my crazy colors), i gave it a try. This is another panoramic photo, made by combining 8 horizontal frames at 17mm, taken handheld. I think B&W suits it perfectly since there was barely any color in the original photo. Those trees were huge by the way and from that perspective the 252meter tall Donau Tower seems tiny…

Thank you for all for your suggestions and thoughtful comments. Sometimes we get so stuck in our own routine and it’s just great to receive such beautiful suggestions ♥

Winter is here

Winter is here by V-Light

Hello my dear friends,

Winter has been going on strong for some weeks now in Austria. After Christmas it has snowed a few times inside Vienna as well and of course i was out taking photos every day. The reason why you haven’t seen any of these photos yet, is because i need to reinvent my editing process to make it suitable for snow. Snow is something new to me so i need to find new ways to capture it as i envision. I took some days off to refresh my brain and eyes and now i’m back to work! 😀 Brace yourselves! Winter photos are coming!

Let’s start with something recent! This is a panoramic photo i took yesterday, 9 vertical frames, handheld. It was snowing at the moment and one thing i noticed as a newbie about this kind of weather is that when you have such a gray sky it’s really hard to make it look nice. But until now i didn’t have the luck of having a nice blue sky with fluffy clouds while the earth is still snowed! So this will do 🙂

Also i wanted to say a big thanks for all your lovely comments on my Hazy Sunset photo. You really gave me some food for thought and all of your suggestions were actually great! I’m very thankful to have such amazing and caring followers on my blog! ♥ Hope you are all having a nice start in 2015! Cheers! 😀

Donau City in the distance, the modern Vienna

So this is one of those photos, where no matter what editing style i choose, something just doesn’t sit right in my perfectionist eye. I still like the composition and it’s my first panorama using my new tripod, so i had to upload it 😛 I tried to turn it into black and white since the colours here are not that great but it still didn’t sit right…What do you think? Do you like it?

Urania, Uniqa, United

Urania, Uniqa, United by V-Light
The Urania observatory and the Uniqa tower, in one photo together 🙂

I love panoramic photos because they can give you a better sense of the surroundings. You’ve already seen Urania and Uniqa in previous posts but now you can see them together, isn’t that cool? That was a handheld panorama and unfortunately no matter what software i used some parts didn’t connect that smoothly. You can click on the image to view it in a larger size and there it is more noticeable. I bought a new compact tripod that i can carry with me so i will try to make some better panoramas for you to enjoy next 😀

Hello my dear friends! 😀

It’s been great to post photos from Thessaloniki but it’s even better to have new photos from new places that i can share with you. During my 3 day break, i got the chance to explore some areas close to the place i live, in the peninsula of Halkidiki. My next posts will be full of sea, beautiful shades of blue and summer 😉 I hope you’ll enjoy them…

Day 13 of the V-Light Art Sale and we are now at 58%. I’m so grateful for all your support! The campaign is going better than i would ever expect and it makes me truly happy to see that all the hard work i’ve put into it, is paying off. My dream of moving to Austria, is coming closer day by day and i’m so excited to finally have the opportunity for a better future. Thank you all 😀
