Hello again my friends! 😀

Here’s one more photo of the Spittelau waste incineration plant with some interesting details on the wall in front…Hehe! 😛 What i also found interesting, is that the chimney was not active but the sky does look like smoke that’s coming out of it, doesn’t it? I also love all the blue elements that co-exist in this frame! Will be happy to read your comments and wishing you all a super awesome weekend! Alex out XD

Hello my lovely people,

Last week of the Web Design module is here! XD I have no idea what the next week will bring in terms of the internship but i know i will have less hours and that means more time for me and my photography! 😀 I’m super excited!

Here’s a photo from last summer again, the Spittelau waste incineration plant against a lovely dramatic sky! Love them clouds! ❤ The façade of the building was redesigned by eco-architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser after a major fire in 1989, giving it this unique and colorful appearance. It’s definitely an eye-catcher!

Everything the sky is trying to tell…

Sometimes it can happen that you are on your way to do some groceries shopping, the sky is pretty plain but cloudy, you step in the super market, you take your time buying stuff, step out of the super market and suddenly you see this insane sky, with colors and shapes you never experienced before…

  What you do?

  • Option 1: Enjoy the sky as you carelessly get back home
  • Option 2: Take out your smartphone and get a lousy snapshot and tell all your friends on Instagram that it was really a lot better than the photo
  • Option 3: Just ignore it and make fun of all the other people who stare at the sky like they are on drugs
  • Option 4: Run like hell, i mean like your butt is on fire, get home, throw all your groceries on the floor (that gouda can wait), grab your camera, fly down the stairs and run like hell again so you can find some decent spots to take some shots before this insane sky disappears.

Obviously i took option 4 (although i’m guilty of option 2 as well) and therefore i present to you a slideshow of some quick shots i took while trying to catch my breath! Enjoy 😀

P.S. All photos were taken handheld and post-processed in Lightroom from a single RAW file, no HDR. What do you think?

Crazy Rain Cloud

Rain cloud by V-Light
Crazy cloud full of rain |19.06.2014 15:43pm

That just happened! The crazy weather and the storms are not stopping any time soon. That cloud was moving insanely fast, it was a matter of seconds before the whole sky turned dark and crazy amounts of rain started pouring down. The storm lasted about an hour, leaving us without electricity. I spend that time with my guitar, playing spooky music, trying to create the soundtrack of a horror movie. Storms inspire me, i can see that. One thing i am grateful for is that it only rained and we didn’t have any hail, my mom’s awesome garden would be destroyed 😦

Birth of the Universe – A thunderstorm

Hello my friends 😀

The weather here has been very stormy lately but that was a great opportunity for me to take some new photos. I always found thunderstorms very fascinating and it would be an understatement to say that i’m not in love with them. My grandmother is terrified by them and here i am running outside with my tripod as soon as i hear a thunder 🙂

So last night it was a distant thunderstorm, i didn’t hear any thunders, i didn’t see any lightnings. I had reports from several of my friends who live in Thessaloniki that there was a storm there and i thought to check it out. From my balcony i could see some action in the distance. I began taking some wide angle photos but the lightnings were not strong enough to make the scene interesting so i decided to pull out a zoom lens and try to get closer to the center of the storm.

After a while i  realized the storm wasn’t moving very fast so i could predict where to focus and how to compose my shots. The heavy clouds most of the times covered the shapes of the lightnings passing through them but that created a very interesting light play.

Most of my exposures are about 7-9 seconds long. In the first images that i did a longer exposure you can see the movement in the clouds which was not an effect i liked. As for post-processing i did add some saturation and contrast to make them more colorful and dramatic but the difference in color tones was there and that’s how this storm felt to me. I hope you enjoy 😉
