The Raven

The Raven by V-Light

“…And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor shall be lifted…nevermore!” ~ Edgar Allan Poe

I felt the need to expand my style…so i started using my old camera with some old lenses…not caring if everything is perfectly exposed or focused…Just walking around shooting stuff…letting feelings come to surface…For this one i used my Canon 450D + Tokina SD 70-210mm and some editing in photoshop adding the textured layers.

Isn’t that cute? 🙂 I always had a fascination with macro photography. It unveils a world full of details and textures that our eyes alone cannot see. But what can you do when you don’t have the equipment needed? I started off by using close up filters on my 18-55mm kit lens. For a beginner it was ok but i did notice losing a lot of detail, that’s what happens when you stack 3 more cheap elements on an already cheap lens. I cannot afford a dedicated macro lens so i’m mainly working with the two cheapest solutions that don’t mess with image quality: extension tubes and a lens reversal ring. This particular photo has been shot using a Canon 350D with the 18-55mm reversed, using a cheap reversal ring i bought on ebay. As you can see you can get incredibly close and and still get a lot of detail.

Next week i’ll be making a post about macro photography and will share with you some tips and tricks you can use to get better photos. Stay tuned 😉
